Qal'at al-Bahrain

Aquí tienes unas fotos como te prometía en mi última entrada del 31 de Octubre (pincha aquí si te la perdiste, es cortita y necesaria para entender las imágenes). Esto es Al-Qal'ah, donde he vivido las primeras cuatro semanas. Algunas casas pintadas y las huertas que estaban enfrente de la casa. Está lleno de moscas por la mañana.
Here you have some photos as I promised on my last entry on October 31st (click here if you missed it, it is short and necessary to understand the pictures). This is Al-Qal'ah, where I've lived the first four weeks. Some painted houses and the vegetables gardens in front of the house. It is full of flies in the morning.


Algunas ruinas del periodo Dilmun que te contaba en la entrada anterior (con enlace a la Wikipedia). El fuerte portugués se construyó sobre un tell. En la primera foto ves las ruinas y el fuerte. En la segunda las ruinas desde el fuerte. Las dos inferiores son un dibujo en planta y una foto aérea del yacimiento.
Some ruins from the Dilmun period; I told you about it on the previous entry (with a link to Wikipedia). The Portuguese Fort was built on a tell. On the first photo you see the ruins and the fort. On the second the ruins from the fort. Those two at the bottom are a drawing in plan and an aerial photo of the site.


Algunas fotos del fuerte. La imagen inferior derecha es un detalle del tipo de piedra que utilizan. Es una roca que extraen del fondo marino y tiene multitud de corales, pequeñas conchas y otros animales.
Some photos of the fort. The bottom right corner is a detail of the type of stone they use. It is a rock that they extract from the sea bed and it has many corals, tiny shells and other animals.

La foto de la izquierda es el fuerte portugués y te haces una idea sobre el tamaño. A la derecha ves una imagen del interior del museo que recrea una sección de la excavación gigante con materiales reales. El museo me encanta, es pequeño, fácil de ver, de entender y muy didáctico.
The photos on the left is the Portuguese fort and you can have an idea about the size. To the right you can see a picture of the museum inside which recreates a massive section from the excavation with real materials. I love the museum, it's small, easy to see, to understand and very didactic.


Aquí es donde vivo ahora. En la imagen superior izquierda puedes ver parte del foso del fuerte, a la izquierda un pequeño edificio blanco junto al mar (que apenas se ve) que es el museo y al fondo algunas de las torres de Manama, la capital de Bahrein. La foto de la derecha es la cocina del museo, con la hierba, las palmeras y la (fangosa) playa ahí mismo. La foto inferior izquierda es la terraza de la cafetería por la noche (mi cocina es el muro del fondo). La última foto es el museo de noche desde el fuerte.
Here is where I am living now. On the top left picture you can see part of the moat of the fort, to the left a small white building next to the sea (that you can hardly see) which is the museum and on the background some of the towers of Manama, the capital of Bahrain. The photo to the right is the kitchen of the museum, with the grass, the palm trees and the (muddy) beach right there. The bottom left photo is the garden of the museum's café at night (my kitchen is the wall at the bottom). The last photos is the museum at night from the fort.
