Peak District

Preparados el sábado por la mañana para caminar hasta 5 horas. Lo que hicimos fue una ruta por lo alto de las montañas alrededor del valle de Hope.
Ready on Saturday morning to walk up to 5 hours. What we did was a path on top of the mountains around the valley of Hope.












Esta era la subida a la montaña, un tramo precioso. Por el medio corría un reguero de agua por el deshielo de la nieve caída la semana anterior. Esos del fondo son los del grupo.
This was the slope up to the mountain, a lovely stretch. There was a trail of water in the middle coming from the melting of the snow they had the week before. Those at the background are part of the group.





Desde lo alto del monte había unas vistas espectaculares y aún se veían algunos restos de nieve.
From the top of the mountain there were some spectacular views and some remaining snow could be seen.








No hacía mucho frío porque no había viento (y menos después del esfuerzo de subir) así que el abrigo casi me sobraba. Detrás mío hay un tío preparándose para hacer parapente. Al fondo está el valle vecino.
It wasn't very cold because it wasn't windy (specially after the effort climbing) so I didn't know what to do with the coat. Behind me there is a guy getting ready the paragliding. On the background the neighbour valley.

Estos son los cottages. Nuestra casa era la de la derecha (esas dos puertas que se ven). A la izquierda vivían los dueños.
These are the cottages. Our house was the one on the right (those two doors you can see). The owners live in the house on the left.









Esta es una maqueta cubierta por escarcha del castillo de Castleton, que fuimos a visitar el domingo. La entrada principal estaba a la derecha en la colina vecina y para acceder al recinto había que atravesar el puente sobre el cañon. Si había problemas, se levantaba el puente. La entrada actual es la entrada trasera, a la izquierda.
This is a scale model of the castle covered with frost of Castleton's castle, which we visited on Sunday. The main entrance it was on the right on the hill nearby and to access the compound you had to go across the wooden bridge over the cliff. In the event of difficulties, the bridge was lifted. The current entrance is the back gate, to the left.

Este es el único edificio del castillo que queda en pie. Le faltan muchos sillares y en esta cara sólo conserva unos pocos arriba a la izquierda.
This is the only standing structure preserved from the castle. There are a lot of ashlars missing and it only preserve some one this face on the top left corner.










Castleton está al Norte de la colina donde se encuentra el castillo. Eso hace que durante la parte fría del año, incluso en pleno mediodía, gran parte del pueblo no vea la luz directa del sol.
Castleton is on the North side of the hill where the castle is located. During the coldest season of the year, even in the noon, large part of the town doesn't see directly the sunlight.
