You come, I go, you go, I'm coming!
There has been a lot of movement in the last few weeks, specially on weekends. Always for good things as I have had some visitors and I have been myself away too. First I had my friend Ray from Manchester coming to visit. It was great to see him again! He was so helpful when I needed it during my stay in that city... I missed his typically Mancunian accent as well as his hilarious sense of humour. Plus it was good fun taking him to the coolest places (I could think about) in Frankfurt.
After Ray's visit, it was me who went to the UK briefly, just for a short weekend which turned out to be longer than expected... The weekend started in Oxford actually! As I arrived to the airport on Friday night, I went straight to the town which has been home for over two years. I spent the night there at my great friend Nico's. It was soooo good to see and catch up with him again. I miss him a lot. And then the morning after I met my ex-flatmate in Manchester, Jeremy, who is now living in Oxford again (he studied there) and actually just 5 minutes walking from where I used to live. It was also very nice to see him and have a tea and a long walk. He is a unique character. And then, in those non-stop 24h of highlight after highlight, I met my friend Javier and his lovely wife and also my friend Vicky. I hadn't seen Javier since November 2009 when we came back from Bahrain. It was awesome to remember “the good old times” and have some laughter over a warm coffee and a piece of cake. After Oxford, I went to London for the rest of the weekend and I stayed, as always, at my good friend Brendan's. I also met a friend of him, with whom I got on really well as we have so many things and tastes in common: clubs, music, guys, food, clothes... I actually ended up spending more time with him clubbing and shopping (my two main objectives for this trip) than with Brendan, hahaha. And on Monday evening, when I was ready to say “good-bye UK, hope to see you soon again”, I received an unexpected new at the airport: the flight to Frankfurt had been cancelled and there were no new flights until the day after!! Oh well, at least the company put me in a good hotel, paid for my transport and meals and it was just a matter of relaxing and waiting...
And last but not least, the first weekend of December I had one of the most eagerly awaited visits: my sisters Laura and Beatriz with my nephews Endika and Toni and also one of my brothers-in-law. It was great fun to have them around and to do things with them: the Christmas market, the Zoo, window-shopping... This is the third time some relatives come to visit me after my third sister, María, and my cousin Juan when I was in Oxford.
And now again, it is me the one who is at the airport to take a flight -weather permitting- to go back home for Christmas. I am happy to spend there about 10 days surrounded by friends and family. Time to go back to my roots and remember again who I was and who/what carved my first 25 years of life.
