A few days in Manchester

My thing with Manchester is special. It is not just about the city, how cool, funny, interesting or whatever it is. In my case, it is more about the reasons that took me there for the first time. Manchester is where my choice is, but not where my wages are, unfortunately. The last time I was around it was over a year and a half ago, when I came back from Bahrain to pick up my stuff and leave the city definitely. It was a good moment to go back, and I needed it.

I had time to do a bit of everything on this visit, my first time back in town. I have been able to run some errands and sort out some pending stuff I had to do. I could also spend some time with my very good friend and best host ever, Ray (do I say always the same about all my hosts?). I could go out although I hate going out on my own (Ray was just too tired) and see the new bars they have opened (an Eagle bar!). I could also go to Liverpool, visit the city and finally do my promise of meeting an ex-colleague from my years in Oxford, who is now doing her PhD there. I also could meet some of Ray's friends whom I have already met back two years ago and we all had a great bbq under the rain of the NW of England.

But the most important thing is that I had time to walk a lot in the city, no time pressure, music in my ears, photo camera, no distractions... or I should rather say: all the distractions that Manchester can possibly offer. And I experimented again the reasons that took me there, the feelings. I was glad to see that they are still in me, alive but snoozed, like narcotised by an easy, pleasant and moderately successful life in Germany which I'm afraid that it will neither last short nor forever.

And these were my four days in Manchester. Photos coming soon.
